Border Crossing Information for the 2025 CANUSA Games – Hamilton, Ontario | August 8th to 10th
This year marks a home year for CANUSA Hamilton athletes, as they will be participating in the 67th CANUSA Games in Hamilton, Ontario, from August 8th to 10th, 2025. There will be no border crossing required for Hamilton athletes in 2025. The next away year requiring border crossing will be in 2026, when the games are hosted in Flint, Michigan.
However, for families traveling from Flint to Hamilton, please be aware of the current border requirements.
Travel to the United States from Canada
For Canadian citizens, residents, and landed immigrants entering the United States from Canada, the following documentation is required:
For Canadian Citizens:
- Children (15 years old and younger):
- They may present an original or copy of their birth certificate or a Canadian Citizenship Card when arriving by land or sea from a contiguous territory.
- Canadian Citizens (16-18 years old):
- They must have a valid passport, unless traveling as part of an organized group (e.g., school group, sports team, etc.).
- Groups of Canadian Children (under 19):
- Traveling with a school, religious group, social/cultural organization, or sports team, children may present an original or copy of their birth certificate, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Naturalization Certificate, or a Canadian Citizenship Card.
- The group should provide an organizational letterhead with the name of the group, supervising adult, a list of children, and parental/legal guardian consent for each participating child.
For Canadian Landed Immigrants (Permanent Residents):
- Passport and Visa:
- Landed immigrants (permanent residents) need a passport and visa to enter the United States unless they are from a country eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
- If they are eligible for the VWP, they only need a valid passport if arriving by land or sea.
- For air travel, advance approval is required via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

Returning to Canada from the United States
