Golf Tryouts for Team Hamilton
CANUSA Golf tryouts are open to Hamilton athletes aged 8–18 who are interested in competing for Team Hamilton at the 2026 CANUSA Games. Selected athletes will have the opportunity to represent their city in one of the longest-running international youth sporting events between Hamilton, Ontario and Flint, Michigan.
Athletes should have experience with recreational or competitive golf and be ready to demonstrate skill, sportsmanship, focus, and the ability to compete in a structured tournament environment.
What Athletes Can Expect
- Evaluation of golf fundamentals including driving, iron play, short game, and putting
- Assessment of course awareness, scoring ability, and decision-making
- Focus on sportsmanship, pace of play, and competition readiness
- An opportunity to compete internationally as part of Team Hamilton
Team Commitment
- Athletes must be available for the CANUSA Games from August 7–9, 2026
- Selected athletes may be expected to attend team practices or preparation sessions
- Participants must represent Hamilton with respect, pride, and sportsmanship
- Full Games registration will open after team selections are finalized
Billeting & Modified Billeting
Billeting is a major part of the CANUSA tradition. As the host city, Flint families are required to billet a visiting Hamilton athlete during the Games. This tradition helps keep the Games affordable while building lifelong friendships between athletes, families, and communities.
A modified billeting option will also be available for families who prefer to book hotel accommodations. Hotel information will be provided through the CANUSA website once details are finalized.
Fees & Financial Assistance
- A small registration fee applies only if selected for Team Hamilton
- Financial assistance and scholarships are available to help ensure all athletes can participate
- Additional team and Games information will be shared after selections are finalized
