Vulnerable Sector Police Check

Online Application

Please apply for your police check through the Get a Background Check | Hamilton Police Service

You must be a citizen of Hamilton, at least 18 years of age, and have been a resident of Canada for at least 12 months.

Before applying for an online police record check, applicants will require:

  • Two pieces of government-issued identification that are not expired
  • One piece of identification that includes a photograph
  • Proof of residence in the City of Hamilton if applying for a Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check
  • VISA or Mastercard

Although we strongly encourage online applications, this process may not be for everyone and you can apply in person at the Records Business Centre located at:
Central Station
155 King William Street
Hamilton, ON

Fill out the Police Record Check Form, bring Acceptable Identification and pay the application fee.

If you live outside of the Hamilton region you will need to go to the Police department in your area or the O.P.P. Please download the CANUSA letter.

Submit Police Check to CANUSA Office

Mail your ORIGINAL embossed ‘Request for Vulnerable Sector Screening’ form from the Police Service in a sealed envelope to:

  • The appointed CANUSA Police Liaison will do an assessment of the applicant and return the original police check to the volunteer within 10 days business days of receipt. A copy will be placed in a confidential volunteer file.
  • Important: please do not give your police check to anyone else to submit/deliver on your behalf (e.g. Sport Coordinators, Coaches)
