Boys Basketball at the 2025 CANUSA Games – Hamilton, Ontario | August 8th to 10th

This year’s basketball event will bring together talented athletes from both Hamilton and Flint, Michigan, to compete in a friendly and competitive atmosphere.

General Information – Boys Basketball at the CANUSA Games

The Boys Basketball competition will take place at one central venue in Hamilton, featuring a series of games between teams from both cities. Please note, this is not a tournament but a set of games designed to provide competitive play and foster friendship.

Tryouts & Practices

  • Tryouts and Practices: Both tryouts and practices for the 2025 CANUSA Games are completely free of charge. We encourage all interested athletes to attend as many sessions as possible to prepare for the games in August.
  • Commitment Requirement: Athletes must participate in 80% of practices leading up to the Games to be eligible for selection. These practices will help ensure athletes are ready for the competition and team dynamics.

Registration & Costs

While tryouts and practices are free, there is a registration fee for the 2025 CANUSA Games. This fee will be required once teams are finalized. If an athlete is unable to pay the registration cost, CANUSA offers scholarships and support to make sure every athlete has the opportunity to participate. More information on how to apply for support will be available soon.

Partnership with STAC Basketball

CANUSA is proud to partner with STAC Basketball, a prominent basketball organization in Hamilton. This partnership ensures high-quality training and support for all athletes participating in the Boys Basketball competition at the 2025 CANUSA Games. To learn more about STAC Basketball and their programs, visit their website: STAC Basketball.

Billeting Requirement for CANUSA Families

As Hamilton is the host city for the 2025 CANUSA Games, all Hamilton families are required to billet a Flint athlete for the duration of the event. Billeting helps reduce costs, builds community spirit, and fosters meaningful connections between families from both cities.

Vulnerable Sector Check:
Hamilton parents hosting Flint athletes will need to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check from the Hamilton Police Service. This step ensures the safety and well-being of all participants. For more details and instructions on obtaining this check, please visit the official CANUSA Housing & Screening Information.
