Swimming at the 2026 CANUSA Games – Flint, Michigan | August 7th to 9th

The 2026 CANUSA Games will feature an exciting Swimming competition from August 7th to 9th in Flint, Michigan. Athletes from Hamilton and Flint, Michigan, will come together to showcase their swimming skills and compete in a series of races, promoting both sportsmanship and friendship. Age groups include: (8 – 10), (11 – 12), (13 – 14), (15 – 17).

General Information – Swimming at the CANUSA Games

The Swimming competition will take place at a local pool facility in Flint, offering athletes the chance to compete in various race distances and styles. This event is not a full tournament but will feature multiple races as part of the 2026 CANUSA Games schedule.

Registration & Costs

While tryouts and practices are free, there will be a registration fee for the 2026 CANUSA Games once teams are finalized. If an athlete is unable to pay the registration fee, CANUSA offers scholarships and support to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent participation. Information on how to apply for financial assistance will be available in 2026.

Billeting Requirement for CANUSA Families

As Flint is the host city for the 2026 CANUSA Games, all Flint families are required to billet a Hamilton athlete for the duration of the event. Billeting plays a crucial role in reducing costs and fostering meaningful connections between athletes from both cities.

Michael Vukmir

Meet Michael Vukmir, a seasoned figure in swimming and youth sports. Michael began his journey with CANUSA as a two-time athlete, competing in swimming in 1987 and table tennis in 1994. Transitioning to coaching, he spent 11 years mentoring the CANUSA swimming team, eventually assuming the role of Head Swimming Coordinator and Coach, a position he’s held for 23 years. As a Level 2 Swim coach, Michael has guided children from 6 to 17 years old, from novice swimmers to internationally competitive athletes. Alongside his role at CANUSA, he’s made significant contributions as a private swim coach and spent a decade coaching at a club level. Michael’s dedication has been recognized with the Ivan Miller Award in 2008, and he’s proudly represented his community as a three-time coach at the International Children’s Games in swimming.


Rowan’s Law concussion awareness program

is mandatory and will be part of the registration process for all sports.
